it’s an abscess in your turtle’s ear most likely. It won’t go away on its own, but it won’t harm your other turtles either. call a vet that specializes in reptiles.

Aquatic turtles can also get them. These show up as large bumps, usually around the head and legs. If the bump is over the ear, it may be an infected ear drum which needs lancing. If the bumps are elsewhere, they are most likely botflies which are larvae of the botfly (a single maggot) under there. The area has to be lanced and packed with antibiotics by a vet or professional turtle rehabilitator. Turtles are also prone to regular fly maggots if they have an open wound. A female fly will lay eggs in any open wound. The eggs are like tiny grains of rice and should be flushed out if seen before hatching. Once hatched, the maggots will eat the live turtle’s flesh and have to be flushed and picked out by hand, the wound being packed with antibiotics. While one or two botflies probably will not kill a turtle, many of them or a single infestation of regular maggots (that is a mass of larvae) can easily kill even a healthy turtle.
I am no expert, just been blessed with 2 healthy red eared sliders girls for 36 yrs.
plus 3 adopted males 8, 5 and a 2 yr old. yr adopted from this site
You might want to take him to a vet. I just took my turtle for an ear abscess and they had to lance it. We have to give him antibiotics every three days and they told us to give him more greens. They said sometimes when they have ear abscesses, they have something else going on also. Just don’t take him to an emergency hospital like I did. It cost more!! Take him to a 9-5 vet. Good Luck!!

Turtles are prone to ear abscesses,usually due to dirty water.You’ll need to take the turtle to a vet who can surgically drain the abscess and prescribe antibiotics,and get a stronger filter.The turtle also needs a dry place to bask.And,yes,the turtle can die without treatment.
A excellent weblog publish, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing only a little analysis on that. And he in fact purchased me dinner just because I found it for him… smile.. So let me rephrase that: Thankx for that treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to talk about this, I actually strongly about it and actually reading way more on this topic.
