what makeup to use for getting a pale face (for halloween) for not great skin?

Galena asked:

I got some normal halloween makeup “grease paint” is disgusting and since I have to dress up more than once and my skin isn’t great to start off with (it’s not totally horrible but I have mild acne).

So far I’m considering manic panic virgin pressed powder ( http://www.vampfangs.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MPVWPP )
but I’d have to order it today for it to get here in time.
Also I have a friend that does face painting – she says they’re water based, does anyone know how they are on the skin?

(some people have recommended baby powder but that doesn’t stay on at all)

I’m trying to get the undead look, the pressed powder seems like the best bet, but it’s kind of expensive. so can I get away with the facepaints? or anything else you can think of?

well since the face painting is water based it might make your skin look shiny and oily. Since its a liquid and it could rub off easily. You should stick with the pressed powder.

Try a liquid foundation, in the palest shade you can find. Followed by the palest pressed powder if you are after a matte finish…Check the make-up deparment in any good drugstore with a wide selection.(CoverGirl has a line that will stay put for quite a while.) By using foundation, you can apply it really heavy(or light) to achieve your look and you can buy something that will not irritate sensitve skin. Just make sure you wash it all off really well ! Good Luck !

I am a faux effects artist. Due to your skin condition I recommend mud face pack its all natural won’t irritate your skin and incredible effects for the look of the undead can be achieved, the mud cracks and gives an awesome illusion of a rotting corpse, you can add cotton wool in area’s and apply the mud over the top to create ****** distortions finish with shading in areas with dark color eyeshadows and add some blood. Be sure the face pack is dry before applying any shading or blood…100% will stay on your face all night, wash off with warm water…your skin will be super clean and mud packs are the best way to dry out acne naturally anyway…using over the counter makeup, foundations etc will clog your pores and create more problems…..hope this helps have a ghoulishly great night …..
