Baby Face Rash and dry skin only on face and neck at the moment?
toledowrap asked:
My month old developed a rash on his cheeks, but moving up to his eyes and down to part of his neck. We thought it was the baby lotion but now think it is the J & J baby soap. Along with the rash, his skin (cheeks)is really dry but don’t want to put anything before seeing the Doc. Anybody have a clue or remedy.

ALOT of newborns get dry skin.
its just normal i guess.
but i understand where you are coming from being a “worried and cautious mother”.
maybe try some other types of baby sope

awww poor lil guy.
It could be a few things baby acne , eczema or soaps .
Next time you give him a bath, dont use any soap, put a bit of baking soda in the bath (not too much) and bath him in that…I know that helps alot with my daughter when she gets BAD diaper rashes. Might have to do it a couple of times.
I also use California Baby products on my LO cus she has sensitive skin. Its made with natural ingredients and helps with alot of skin irritations. They have shampoos, conditioners, diaper creams, lotions.you can get them at Target..a bit costly but a lil goes a long way.
I hope you can get some answers from the DR soon. Good Luck!

he may be allergic to the soap or detergent you are using on his sheets. try using ivory soap for washing him and Dreft or Ivory snowflakes for his linens. rinse his clothes and linens twice after washing.

Babies will get what they call a “newborn rash” this is common. Go to the web site “Baby rashes”, they will list different types of rashes

well my daughter had this same thing. she has super sensitive skin and the only thing that made it go away was using dove sensitive skin soap for her bath and then using lubriderm lotion. no pretty baby smelling lotions or soaps! which ***** yes, but it will make the rash go away. my daughter is 8 months old now and still cant use anything else or she breaks out! hope this helps!

My son has the same thing! It looks yucky, but apparently it’s normal. The dry skin will eventually appear all over the body and the rash is actually “baby acne.” Don’t put lotion on the dry skin, just leave it alone. And the acne will clear up within a few weeks. To keep it from getting worse, wash his face with water only and make sure to thoroughly wipe up all the milk he dribbles out as that can collect under his chin and make the irritation worse. Good luck, and hope I helped!
