What would you recommend for a dry skin?

Deuc asked:

I’m pretty sure everyone has asked this question. My skin is dry and a bit oily, I usually wash my face with soap, I rarely use make up or any acne creams since I hardly get acne (I’m a girl). What are some home remedies or mostirizers I could use to smooth my face and not be dry?

Dryness is not a moisture problem but a pH problem. You need to counteract the alkalinity of hard water, soap, detergent, and soil by applying a few drops of vinegar after each washing, especially on your scalp. You will never get dandruff that way. It is a potter’s trick which I have used for 45 years in which time I have never used lotion. I keep a ****** bottle of vinegar by the sink. It is also a great deodorant. Haven’t used any deodorant in those years either, just vinegar.

NO SOAP!!! It dries out your face even more and can clog your pores. I have oily but dry skin too and I use regular Cetaphil Daily ****** Cleanser and I have Nuetrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, but I don’t use that as much. The Cetaphil isn’t targeted towards acne. It’s targeted towards cleaning your pores and removing dirt and oil. The Neutrogena stuff makes my face feel really cool and clean, but it dries out my skin more. After I wash my face with one of those cleansers, I use some sort of oil-free moisturizer, about a pump, and rub it on my face. It doesn’t clog pores but it still makes my face feel nice. Dove and Neutrogena sell good ones. It may take a couple pumps to fully moisturize.

On the other hand… I also found that my skin is never dry if I don’t use a face wash. My face is naturally dry after getting water on it, but the dryness is increased by the face wash.

No matter what, do not use soap to wash your face.

You could use honey. Just smother honey all over your face, leave on for as long as you want (I’d recommend leaving it for at least 20 mins) and then wash off. Follow with a moisturiser.
